Itinerary

  • Upon your arrival at the Djibouti–Somaliland border at Lawya’ado, our tour officially begins. From here, we will travel along the coastal route to the historic town of Zeila, a destination known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic coastal charm. In Zeila, enjoy a guided tour of the town’s most significant landmarks, uncovering its deep historical and maritime roots. Nearby lies a famous island known for its pristine natural beauty—perfect for visitors interested in marine and eco-tourism. Depending on the wind conditions, we will take a boat trip either in the afternoon or early the next morning to explore this beautiful island. The day ends with an overnight stay at Zeila. (LD).

  • After breakfast, we set off on a scenic drive along the coastline, passing through numerous coastal villages and meeting local nomadic communities. We’ll make several stops along the way to experience the nomadic lifestyle firsthand and soak in the unique atmosphere of the region. After a full day of exploration and cultural immersion, we’ll arrive in Berbera for an overnight stay. (BLD).

  • After breakfast, we’ll explore Berbera City, starting with a walking tour through its historic old quarter, where Ottoman and British architectural influences blend beautifully—many buildings remain in use today. After that, we will depart for Laas Geel, home to some of the best-preserved rock art in Africa, dating back over 10,000 years. The vibrant colors and intricate quality of the paintings make this one of the most impressive highlights of the trip. Then we continue to Hargeisa for overnight stay. (BLD).

  • After breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our day with a visit to the largest livestock market in the region, where we’ll observe the lively trade of livestock. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the local economy and culture. Following this, we will visit the Civil War Memorial, a significant and poignant site for the local community. Next, we will head to one of the most unique markets in the world the money market. In this vibrant, open-air marketplace, money exchangers sit on the streets surrounded by stacks of cash, with no fear of theft. Then we will drive to Dhagah khoure, home to some of the oldest cave paintings in Somaliland, dating back approximately 5,000 years. After lunch, we will then drive to Borama and explore with a visit to Amoud University, the oldest university on the Somali Peninsula. During our visit, you'll have the opportunity to meet students from various countries. Afterwards, enjoy a walk through Borama’s vibrant local market, immersing yourself in the town’s rich culture before returning to Hargeisa for your overnight stay. (BLD).
