Best of Somaliland

After breakfast, we will depart for Laas Geel to explore some of the best preserved rock art in Africa. Dating back over 10,000 years, the vibrant colors and intricate details of these cave paintings make this a true highlight of the trip. We will then continue our journey to the coastal city of Berbera. After enjoying lunch, a walking tour of the historic old quarter will reveal a fascinating blend of Ottoman and British colonial architecture.

We will then depart from Berbera and ascend toward the picturesque mountain town of Sheikh. The journey through the Sheikh Pass offers breathtaking, panoramic views and a refreshingly pleasant climate. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a traditional tea break with the locals before continuing our drive to the city of Burco for the night.

After breakfast, we will explore the lively markets of Burco and visit the historic monument where the Somaliland flag was first raised, marking the declaration of independence in 1991.

Following our city tour, we will embark on our scenic drive to Erigavo, located in the Sanaag region, home to the highest peaks and largest forests in Somaliland. Along the way, we will make several stops on the expansive plains to meet nomadic communities and spot endemic birds and plant life.

Upon reaching Erigavo, we will head directly to our hotel for some well-deserved rest.

Following breakfast, we will spend the day exploring the magnificent Daallo Mountains. Part of the majestic Golis Range, this lush, mist covered mountain forest is famous for its towering cliffs, deep canyons, and rare frankincense trees.

We will take a nature walk to the edge of the Daallo Escarpment, which offers sweeping, dramatic views on a clear day, you can even see all the way down to the Gulf of Aden.

We will enjoy the diverse flora and fauna of this pristine wilderness before returning to the city of Erigavo for a relaxing evening and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we will begin our descent from the mountainous highlands, driving back toward the coast. Upon reaching the warm coastal city of Berbera, you will have the afternoon to unwind from the long journey.

We will enjoy a refreshing lunch by the Red Sea, followed by a relaxing swim at the beach and an optional boat tour to take in the coastal views. The evening will be yours to enjoy dinner, relax by the water, and check into your hotel.

NB: We will have snorkeling and diving equipment available for guests who wish to dive and experience the rich marine life.

After enjoying breakfast on the beach, we will capture photos of Berbera in the beautiful morning light and visit the Berbera Local Museum.

We will then depart the coast, taking a scenic drive to a forest reserve outside of Hargeisa, home to the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC). Here, you will have the incredible opportunity to observe rescued cheetahs in 5-to-12-acre natural enclosures and learn about the sanctuary's vital work in rehabilitating animals saved from the illegal wildlife trade.

Afterward, we will complete our drive into Hargeisa, where we will treat you to a special, traditional farewell lunch of camel meat before ensuring a seamless transfer to the airport for your departure.
